A New Year, A New Chapter
It’s 2018 and we have a few changes planned for this little corner of the Internet.
Over the years, we’ve adjusted our style as life has changed and this year is no different. Now that we’re settled in China, our pace of travel has slowed and we find ourselves returning to some of our favorite places again and again (hello Shanghai and Hong Kong!), spending less time further afield.
While we used to keep up a pace of 10+ new countries each year in Europe, here in Asia, things are more spread out and flights don’t come quite so cheap. With a lot of time at home, and less time on the road, we find ourselves running out of things to talk about. (That’s the first and last time you’ll ever hear me admit that.)
All this pre-amble is just to say that in 2018, we’re shifting perspectives.
First, we plan on documenting more of our daily life in Shenzhen. It seems that the interest in how life works in China is basically a fascination for everyone, and we’re still new at it. That means, our surprises can be your surprises. Our discoveries can be yours. Our first time to do…whatever…can be easily shared.
This will take the form of more video. It’s frankly just easier to show than to tell, and it also stretches us creatively in a new way. Maybe these videos will be like vlogs (video blogs), or maybe they’ll be more topic-focused. It probably depends on our mood and our activities.
The flip side to more videos will be less writing, but as of now, we’re not sure what the balance will be. If we have something fantastic to write, we’ll write it. Some adventures, like our upcoming vacation to Bali in February, will surely be captured by both.
We’ll pair each published video with a short post like this, just so those people who come directly to this site won’t miss it. If you are a YouTube fan, you can go there and subscribe to our channel directly.
Love this new direction! Just subscribed to your YouTube channel =)
