This is where we almost got married. It was a tight race between this beautiful ocean property and the more intimate location where we ended up getting hitched. But the Amelia Island Ritz Carlton remains one of our favorite places to visit on our regular visits to Florida. My in-laws live about two miles from here, and we’ve spent countless evenings drinking cocktails at the bar, having lunch in the pool lounge or coming by to check out the huge gingerbread pirate ship in the lobby each Christmas. Too bad I don’t play golf – the course here is world class. To me, it looks like a lot of greens and sand and golf carts.
Over the past week I’ve been here three times. We came specifically to purchase salt at the eponymous Salt, a store specializing in the stuff. A Christmas cocktail sparked another drive over. We had family portraits taken on the beach out front. It’s everything you would hope for in a Florida resort, and finally I thought to take a few snaps of the public areas. Maybe we should have had our wedding here after all…
